The Australian Riverine leaf-tailed gecko or the Mount Elliot leaf-tailed gecko, is a rare and remarkable reptile, especially in Canada. It is certainly a treat for us as this is the first time we have ever laid eyes on one in real life! It is seldom found due to its Australian origins and specific habitat needs. This nocturnal gecko is known for its wide, leaf-shaped tail and incredible camouflage, mimicking bark and rocks with its mottled, textured skin. Its unique appearance and expert climbing abilities make it highly sought after among reptile enthusiasts. It is also extremely easy to handle, however we recommend minimal handling for this delicate species. The rarity of this species in Canada, combined with its fascinating adaptations and striking look, makes it an especially prized and special reptile for collectors and enthusiasts alike. We do not expect to find more of these in our near future!
